Spider-Man: Homecoming Review

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the superhero movie that fans have been waiting for. Delivering in both its comedic elements and powerful storytelling, Homecoming is one of the greats, and the most enjoyable blockbuster that has hit the big screen this summer. The film shows Peter Parker living through his high school years, and trying to balance the everyday life of a teenager with stopping a variety of crimes around Queens. Actor Tom Holland does an excellent job of bringing Parker to life, as he makes his leading role debut in the film after a brief appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Homecoming is jam-packed with laughs, and gives plenty of opportunity for fans to not just see the film from the perspective of Spider-Man, but also the boy under the suit. A teenage Spider-Man fits the Marvel Cinematic Universe well, as fans will see how these younger heroes have to learn to grow in a world aware of the Captain Americas and Iron Men around them.

What makes Homecoming so special is its ability to make the audience feel for its characters. The film takes the approach of showing what it would be like not only to be Spider-Man, but also what it’s like for those around him. One of my personal favorite things about the film was the inclusion of Ned, played by Jacob Batalon. He serves not only as Peter’s closest friend, but also the one who knows his biggest secret. The supporting cast shines as they deliver some great one-liners, and help in building a believable high school world around the web-slinging teen.

While Spider-Man is seen at such a young age in the film, he is also equipped with his most powerful gear yet. Supplied by none other than the Iron Man himself, Peter Parker dons a multi-million dollar technologically advanced Spider-Man suit, equipped with hundreds of abilities, web shooting modes, and more. Homecoming excels in showing viewers how Spider-Man finds his way, realizing that he might need some more training before he’s ready for the big leagues.

Spider-Man: Homecoming brings a warm welcome for the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the biggest events superhero fans shouldn’t miss this summer, Homecoming delivers a full experience that will satisfy both comic fans and moviegoers alike.
